Review of the Awara Bed Mattress
Just as we mentioned above, the Awara mattress is a latex hybrid consisting of layers of natural Dunlop latex over coils. The result is a very specific atmosphere that will surprise and delight some casual listeners, but it's not for everyone. Who should consider the Awara mattress a good fit, and who should keep looking, is briefly discussed below.
Just Who Is The Awara For?
- Warm sleepers searching for a more comfortable bed
- People who are heavier than average or who require special assistance
- People who are looking to make a long-term investment in a mattress
- The mattress is well-suited for stomach and back sleepers, who should find it to be very supportive.
- If you're looking for a firm mattress, this is one of the best options.
Why Some People May Not Enjoy The Awara
- A softer or medium-firm mattress is ideal for those who prefer a different sleeping surface.
- Those who weigh less than average may find the mattress to be too unforgiving.
- People who like a mattress that doesn't move around much and has little bounce
- People who sleep on their sides may not feel comfortable on this bed due to the lack of pressure relief.

Comfort Level And Level Of Firmness On The Awara Mattress
The firmness and the feel of a mattress are two of the most crucial qualities to look for when shopping for a new one. Most significantly, these factors determine whether or not a mattress is suitable for your specific sleeping position(s) and other preferences. Now, let's take a look at the Awara mattress's firmness and texture.
Does Anyone Know How Firm the Awara Mattress Is?
Our evaluation of the Awara bed was somewhere in the 7 range. I would rate the firmness as a 5 out of 10. A firmness level of 6 is considered the norm in the business world. With a score of 5/10, this indicates that the Awara is noticeably firmer than typical. One of the most rigid latex/synthetic rubber hybrids we've tried.
Keep in mind that the level of firmness is somewhat open to interpretation. Some people may find the Awara to be even firmer than we did because they won't be able to press down far enough into the top layer of latex to feel any relief from the mattress's firmness.
The Awara Mattress at Night
While lying on our backs, the Awara offered us plenty of comfort and support. We could feel the latex and coils supporting our weight and maintaining proper hip and spinal alignment. People who prefer to sleep on their backs and appreciate a firm surface may find this mattress to be a good fit.
While sleeping on our sides on the Awara, we felt a lot of pressure. Since the Awara is a firm mattress, this position caused some pressure on our hips and shoulders. Most people who prefer to sleep on their sides will feel that this mattress is too firm for them, and they should look elsewhere.
The Awara mattress, in our opinion, is best for stomach sleepers. As a result, our hips and spine felt properly supported and aligned. If you sleep on your stomach a lot, this is one of the best mattresses we've tested.
Does Anyone Know What the Awara Mattress Is Like to Sleep On?
The Awara mattress is buoyant and responsive, as is typical of latex hybrids. The responsiveness of the latex makes shifting positions and getting comfortable on the mattress a breeze. Rather than sinking into it, sleepers will have the sensation of floating above the mattress.
People weighing between 130 and 230 lbs.
The Awara mattress provides ample support for back sleepers of average weight who prefer a firmer feel. In general, side sleepers of average weight will not experience enough comfort on this mattress. However, those of a normal weight who sleep on their stomachs should find that they are adequately supported.
Over-230-pound Heavyweight Sleepers
Heavy people who prefer to sleep on their backs should find the Awara to provide adequate spinal support, though it does not alleviate pressure well in this position. A heavy person sleeping on their side will probably find the mattress too firm, causing discomfort in the shoulder and hip areas. Even those who prefer to sleep on their bellies, even at a heavy weight, should find that this mattress offers adequate spinal support. Our best mattresses for heavy people are the answer if you need something with even more support.
For those of you who weigh less than 130 pounds while you sleep,
For lighter back sleepers, the Awara may not provide adequate pressure relief despite ample spinal support. Thinner people who sleep on their sides will find this mattress too hard, and they should look elsewhere for a more suitable bed. The Awara is a great option for lightweight stomach sleepers, just as it is for lightweight back sleepers, though some may find it to be too firm even for this position.
Build Mattresses by Awara
You have now read enough to have an idea of what it's like to sleep on an Awara latex mattress. Next, let's uncover this bed and see what's underneath. We will analyze the Awara's construction from top to bottom, discussing the impact of various materials on its overall performance. Come on, we have to know what this is about.
Cover
The top of the Awara mattress is made of soft organic cotton and tufted with wool, providing both comfort and breathability.
Supporting Fleece
The Awara mattress uses two inches of genuine Dunlop latex from rubber trees as its primary comfort layer. This fabric is elastic, quick to respond, lightweight, and long-lasting. This layer adds to the Awara's eco-cred by being constructed out of a natural material that has received certification from the Rainforest Alliance. That's why we consider it to be among the finest organic mattresses available.
A Backbone
The 8" of pocketed coils that lie below the Awara's latex comfort layer provide the bed with its necessary support. The coils in this mattress are not only sturdy and long-lasting, but they also provide ample ventilation for sleepers in the middle third. There is a layer of high-density foam beneath the coils.
Bed vs. Mattress
Having a height of 10 inches, the Awara mattress is relatively low.

Evaluation of an Awara Mattress
You can learn a lot about a mattress' suitability for your needs by familiarizing yourself with its firmness, feel, and construction. Nonetheless, there are some additional factors to think about. With a focus on temperature regulation, motion transfer, edge support, and more, we put the Awara mattress through its paces. Okay, let's see how well this bed holds up.
Hot Or Cold Sleeping
The Awara mattress has several features to prevent you from getting too hot while you sleep. The coils, the breathable latex, and the cover all work together to keep the mattress cool all night.
Move Over
It probably won't surprise you that the Awara isn't the best performer when it comes to motion transfer because it is such a bouncy and responsive mattress. If you and your partner are looking for a mattress, keep in mind that you may feel each other's movements slightly throughout the night.
Border Assistance
The edge support on this mattress is excellent. We were able to relax near the Awara's edges with the firm latex and coils providing a sense of safety.
Durability
The Awara is a long-lasting mattress because of its use of latex and coils. As a long-term investment, this is fantastic.
Off-Gassing
No significant off-gassing was detected from this mattress.
Noise
Our review unit did not produce any audible squeaks or other disturbances during our testing. However, the coils in this bed have the potential to squeak a little over time.
Sex
One of the most important features of a good sex mattress is the ability for both partners to change positions quickly and easily. The Awara is a great choice because it meets the criteria because it is buoyant and reactive. This mattress allows for plenty of room for partners to move around while atop it.

How Does the Awara Stack Up Against Other Beds?
You may be wondering how the Awara mattress stacks up against some of the other popular options on the market.
Awara vs Avocado
Each of these mattresses, the Awara and the Avocado, is a latex hybrid, but they're built very similarly. Each one is made with Dunlop latex, organic cotton, organic wool, and a coil system for added support. Each of these mattresses offers exceptional back support in addition to being comfortable, long-lasting, and kind to the environment.
It's important to note that these two mattresses do not share every characteristic. To begin with, the Avocado can be ordered with a pillow top that adds extra softness and comfort. Comparatively, the Awara Premier has a softer EuroTop and thicker Dunlop latex, making it a step up from the standard Awara.
This Awara Mattress Is Perfect For:
- The stomach sleepers
- Thicker Mattress Adherents
The Avocado Mattress Is For Whom?
- Firmness preferences can be accommodated.
- Sleepers who lie on their sides
Check out our in-depth analysis of the Avocado Sleep Mattress here.
Awara vs Nectar
Both the Awara and the Nectar are very distinctive mattresses. The Awara is a latex hybrid, while the Nectar is an all-foam, memory foam mattress. This makes a huge difference in how the mattresses feel: the Awara is buoyant and responsive, while the Nectar is sluggish and unresponsive. Additionally, the Awara is much more solid than the Nectar.
The Awara, unlike the Nectar, is made entirely of natural ingredients. It is expected that the Awara will also be a more comfortable and supportive mattress due to its increased ventilation and structural integrity. The Awara, however, does not come without a heftier price tag.
Should The Awara Go To Whom?
- Sleeping beauties
- The ones who are looking for a greener mattress
- People who sleep on their stomachs
- Comfortable-mattress devotees
Who Should Be Given The Honey
- The Side Sleepers
- Those who prefer a leisurely pace
- Mattress shoppers who are on a budget
