How to Fix Google Play Won’t Let Me Sign in Error

It is a very reputable site which lists pretty much every app available on the Play Store, including Google apps. Download APK Mirror. Play to Win. …

Google’s Play Store is home to Android apps, and while there are other sources to download and install apps, it remains the most trusted and the default destination. You can also rent movies, buy eBooks, and even music. So, what would you do when Google Play doesn’t let you sign in?

Fix Google Play Wont Let Me Sign In Error

That can be frustrating seeing how the average Android users are not even aware of third-party app marketplaces, and most of them are riddled with malware and viruses. While the Google Play Store is not exactly free from these issues itself, it is still the safest option. How to fix it?

Let’s begin.

1. Update and Reboot

When it comes to Android updates, the adoption rate is not really spectacular. Google updates this chart often, and the results are open to debate. About 17% of users still have Marshmallow on their phones, which is also the highest. These OS updates offer not only features but also have critical patches and fixes for bugs.

Open Settings and go to the System update option to check which version of Android you have, and whether there is an update available or not. If yes, please update, even if you don’t have any issues. Once done, reboot your phone and check if you can sign in to Google Play Store now.

2. Internet Connection

Check your Internet connection using Speed Test site to make sure you have a working connection with a decent speed. It is also a good idea to check your ISP plan. If possible, connect to a different Wi-Fi network and try again. Check out this guide on more info on using Play Store with mobile data problems.

3. Data Usage

You have a solid Internet connection, and other apps are working fine. That doesn’t mean Play Store has access to the Internet too. You can restrict Internet access on an app basis. To check, go to Settings and tap on Manage apps or if you have a different UI, search for a list of installed and system apps.

It is possible that a recent update or some security app messed up the app permissions. To check, open Settings, and go back to Manage apps.

5. Clear Data and Cache

Old data and cache files can be responsible for odd behavior at times. Deleting this data and files will not affect your phone in any way. Again, go back to Settings and Manage apps like previously and select Play Store and Play Services.

Tap on Clear data at the bottom of the screen and select Clear cache and then Clear all data.

6. Uninstall Play Store/Services Updates

Well, updates not only bring features and patches with them but sometimes, they can bring bugs with them too. Maybe, a recent Play Store update messed it up. It can happen. Again, go back to the Play Store option like we did in the last point, but this time, tap on Uninstall updates at the bottom of the screen.

Click OK if prompted and try again. Note that the Play Store will update itself in the background in some time, but that shouldn’t be a problem. You may not be able to uninstall Play Store or Play Store Services if Google Find My Device is enabled.

Depending on the make and model of your smartphone, you may or may not have a Download Manager app on your smartphone. I don’t have it, but if you do, there are a few things you need to check.

You should find it in the app list. Open it and make sure that it is Enabled. If it is enabled, you should see an option to ‘disable’ it and vice versa. Also, make sure that the app has data usage access, as discussed in point 3 above.

8. Disable 2FA

Although I recommend using 2FA on all accounts and it shouldn’t be a problem, some users have reported seeing success by disabling 2FA for their Google account. Click on this link to open Settings inside My Account in Google. You will either see 2FA or 2SV option depending on what you have enabled.

Fix: Google Play won't let me sign in

27-01-2021 · If you can't sign in to Google Play Store, make sure to clear Store's data, uninstall updates, or clear data from associated services.

27-01-2021

Android is lauded for its openness, customization options, and overall usability. However, Google made sure to keep a short leash on all its services. Without a Google account, you won’t be able to access Google Play Store. So, no apps, games, or other media for you. Unless you sideload APKs.

Now, users learned to live with that as, with some exceptions (Huawei), all OEMs come with Google services. Regardless, some users noticed a peculiar error with Google Play Store. They can’t sign in to Google Play Store.

If you are experiencing similar problems on your Android handset, make sure to check the steps we listed below.

Table of contents:

Why will Google Play not let me sign in?

You shouldn’t be asked to sign in to the Play Store to start with. Using Google Play Services, your Google Account is automatically assigned to Play Store, Chrome, Gmail, Play Games, and other built-in Google apps. So, firstly, reboot your device. Secondly, make sure you are signed in with your Google Account.

If that doesn’t help, check the steps below so we can fix it together.

1. Clear cache and data from Google Play services

Let’s start by clearing cache from Google Play Store. If you recently restored your device after a factory reset or installed a newer version of Android, there’s a chance that the locally-stored data got corrupted. The best entry troubleshooting step is to just clear these files and, hopefully, the Play Store will load without issues.

Here’s how to clear cache and data from Google Play Store:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Apps & notifications (Apps).
  3. Expand All apps (App manager or Manage apps).
  4. Open Play Store from the list of available apps.
  5. Tap on Storage.
  6. Clear cache first and try accessing the Store.
  7. If this fails, tap Clear Storage and confirm the selection.
  8. After that, reboot your device again and give it another go.

2. Clear cache and data from additional system services

Google Play Store is hardly a standalone tool. There are more than a few Google Play services working in the background, some connecting it to other apps, some allowing instant apps, others for the location or in-Store payments. And, if the Store is not functioning as intended, it doesn’t necessarily mean that other services are not culprits.

The first one we should look into is Google Play Services. The second one is Google Services Framework. Like in the previous step, we’ll need you to reset these two services by clearing their local data.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Apps & notifications (Apps > App manager or Manage apps).
  3. Open All apps.
  4. Tap on the 3-dot menu at the top and choose to Show system processes.
  5. Open apps and tap Storage. Once there, clear data from  Google Play Services and Google Services Framework.
  6. Restart your device and try accessing the Play Store again.

3. Remove your Google Account

As we already said, once you set up your Android with a certain Google Account, it will automatically sign you in all Google apps. No need to sign in to Gmail or Chrome. However, things can go awry from time to time. So, in our next step, you’ll need to remove your Google Account and add it again.

If you are not sure how to do that, follow the instructions below:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Choose Accounts.
  3. Open Google Account.
  4. Remove the account and reboot your device.
  5. Sign in again with the same account, open Play Store, and try installing or updating apps.

4. Check the Network connection

Although this is hardly a reason why you can’t sign in to Google Play Store, it’s essential that you have a stable network. Google Play Store is basically inaccessible if you are not connected to the internet. So, ensure that you’re connected to Wi-Fi before moving to the next step.

If you experience some connectivity issues, check this dedicated article, or try with the steps below:

  • Forget the network and connect again.
  • Pause high-bandwidth activities on other devices temporarily (downloads, HQ streaming, etc.).
  • Disable Bluetooth and NFC temporarily.
  • Reset Network Settings.

5. Uninstall Play Store updates

Besides clearing data, you can also uninstall Play Store updates. Obviously, you can’t uninstall Google Play Store, so what you want to do is remove all changes made to the app. With the Store on factory values, you shouldn’t have issues with the login sequence anymore.

Here’s how to uninstall Play Store updates on Android:

  1. Again, navigate to Settings > Apps > All apps.
  2. Open Google Play Store.
  3. Tap on the 3-dot menu and Uninstall updates.
  4. Restart your phone/tablet.

If the issue persists and you still can’t sign in to Play Store, consider resetting your device to factory settings.

6. Reset your device to the factory settings

Finally, if the issue keeps occurring every time you open the Play Store, we can only recommend restoring your device to factory values and starting from scratch. Everything you need to know about this procedure can be found in this article.

Once you wipe all and sign in again with your account, the problem with the Play Store should be gone. In case you are still unable to do so, try formatting your device again but, this time, avoid restoring your data. We understand that this is too much to ask from end-users, but that’s all we can suggest.

That’s it. Thank you for reading, follow us on our social media profiles ( Facebook and Twitter), and leave alternative solutions we missed or questions in the comments section below.

Here’s The Fix To Resolve Google Play Won’t Sign In Error ...

21-07-2019 · Dealing with the ‘Google Play Won’t Sign In’ error.

21-07-2019

Despite the surge of various other resources, Google Play Store is still one of the most reliable and trusted sources to download and install apps. Apps and games are not the only things that are available on the platform either. You also have the option of renting movies, buying eBooks and even music through Google Play.

Here’s The Fix To Resolve Google Play Won’t Sign In Error

The fact that other sources that allow you to download apps could be riddled with malware or bugs makes Play Store that much more preferable over other third-party marketplaces. But there are instances where the Google Play Store doesn’t allow you to log in to it. If this happens, some of the steps that you can take to resolve it as given below:

Update and reboot

The OS updates from Google often features critical patches and fixes for bugs. Open Settings and go to the option called System and find System Update on this list to check the version of Android that you are currently using. Click on this to check for updates and install any updates that are available. Once you're done with this, all you need to do is restart your phone and you're all good to go.

Internet Connection

You can make sure that you have a working internet connection by using a speed test site. Switching the Wi-Fi network you are on is also a good idea. After you've done it, check to see if you can log in to the Play Store now.

Data Usage

Even if you a decent internet connection and all the other apps are working fine, it is possible that Play Store doesn't have access to the Internet, you can restrict internet access on an app to app basis. To check this, go to Settings and tap on Manage apps or if you are on a different UI, search for a list of installed and system apps.

Look for Play Store and Play Services here and tap on Play Store first. Under Restrict Data usage, check to see if it can access the Internet on mobile data and Wi-Fi. Repeat the same process for Play Services.

App permissions

Updates and security apps could also mess up app permissions. To check this, open Settings and go to Manage apps. Let's take a look at App permissions and make sure it has access to Storage and other services. Repeat the same for Play Store Services and make sure it has all the necessary permissions to function as well. Try to sign in to Play Store again.

Clear Data and Cache

Old data and cache files can be responsible for odd behavior as well. Deleting this data and files will have no effect on your phone. Go back to Settings and Manage Apps just like before and then select Play Store and Play Store Services. Tap on Clear Data at the bottom of the screen and choose Clear Cache and then Clear all data. This might help you to sign in to your Google account again.

Uninstall Play Store/Services updates

Updates can bring more than features and updates at times and it is possible that your recent Play Store update brought a bug with it. If you think this is the case, go to the Play Store option and tap on Uninstall Updates at the bottom of the screen.

Sign out or into your Google Account

Take a look at other Google apps like Gmail and see if they are working or if they need you to sign in. It would be a good thing to sign out and back into your account if you have come this far. Open Settings and tap on Sync to find a list of all the accounts that you have added to your phone. Choose Google here. You will find an option to remove your account here. To add Google back, go back to the previous screen and at the bottom, tap on the option called Add Account and follow the on-screen instructions.

The Google Play Store is one of those apps we take for granted, mainly because it simply works as a mediator between users and their precious apps. Hell freezes and the sky falls once you come across issues with the Google Play Store not working, though. How will you download that new app you have been so desperately waiting for? There’s no definite manual for fixing the Google Play Store, but we have put together a set of tips and tricks that will most likely help.

Editor’s note: Some of the steps in this article were put together using a Pixel 4a with 5G running Android 12. Steps might differ depending on your hardware and software.

Before you go through a bunch of steps attempting to fix a problem, make sure the problem isn’t with Google itself. The best way to do this is to head somewhere like the Down Detector to see if others are reporting issues. If enough people are claiming similar problems, it could be a temporary server issue that will fix itself with just a little patience.

The problem could be Google!Edgar Cervantes

Sometimes a simple force close is all you need when you have issues with the Google Play Store not woirking! You can do this by simply swiping away the Google Play Store on your multitasking app switcher. Or you could also do it through the Settings.

How to force close an app on Android:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go into Apps.
  3. Select All apps.
  4. Tap on Google Play Store.
  5. Hit Force stop.
  6. Select OK.

Not sure how much this one works, but I have heard plenty of people say that switching Airplane Mode on and then off will help the Google Play Store get back on track. Hey, it’s not a complicated process, and it’s safe. Why not try, right?

Toggle Wi-Fi off and on

Just like with Airplane Mode, Wi-Fi could be the issue. Not to mention, your network may very well be having simple connection issues. Toggle Wi-Fi on and off, and play around with the Google Play Store for a few. It just might help.

Restart your router

I have fixed a Wi-Fi issue or two by simply restarting my router. It may not always make sense, but give it a try, and you might affect the Wi-Fi magic enough to get things working again. Some routers allow restarts to be triggered through an app, while others may have a physical button. If yours has neither, you can unplug the router’s power source and plug it back in.

Restart your phone

Like in the good ol' times, modern electronics sometimes just need a smack to work properly.Edgar Cervantes

Something as simple as a reboot might do the trick. We’ve found that doing this will solve most simple smartphone problems. This will take a minute or two and might work.

Wipe the Google Play Store cache

Cache memory is an incredible tool. The phone can reduce data usage and speed up loading times by storing data locally. This data would otherwise need to be downloaded every time you access a page, which is unnecessary if there are no changes. The bad part is that sometimes older data can pile up, and it can also misbehave. This is why it’s good to clear cache from time to time.

How to wipe an app’s cache on Android:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go into Apps.
  3. Select All apps.
  4. Tap on Google Play Store.
  5. Hit Storage & cache.
  6. Select Clear cache.

Joe Hindy / Android Authority

Is clearing the cache not enough? It’s time to bring out bigger guns and really clean things up. Access your Settings and go into the App Manager like you did to clear the cache to delete related data.

How to delete an app’s data on Android:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go into Apps.
  3. Select All apps.
  4. Tap on Google Play Store.
  5. Hit Storage & cache.
  6. Select Clear storage.
  7. Tap on OK.

Take a look at your disabled apps

Keep in mind that some apps need each other to work correctly. Especially when dealing with system apps like the Google Play Store. Have you disabled any apps recently? That could be the cause of your Play Store woes.

How to check disabled apps on Android:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go into Apps.
  3. Select All apps.
  4. If any apps are disabled, you’ll see a dropdown menu saying All apps. Tap on it and select Disabled apps.
  5. Go into any apps that are disabled and tap on Enable.
  6. Check if the Google Play Store is working.

Check your date and time settings

Dhruv Bhutani / Android Authority

It may seem like a silly suggestion, but often this can be the cause of many Google Play Store issues. This could be due to Google’s servers having trouble syncing with your date and time settings. Go back and put them on automatic, if they aren’t. If that isn’t helping, try to set your time and date as exact as possible. Just play around with the time and date settings a bit.

How to change the date and time settings on Android:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go into System.
  3. Select Date & time.
  4. Toggle the Set time automatically toggle to get your time from the internet.
  5. Alternatively, you can toggle it off and choose everything manually.
  6. You can also choose to Set time zone automatically and Use location to set time zone.

How to remove VPN settings on Android:

Uninstall app on Android stock image

Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority

If all fails, your best bet would probably be to uninstall the Google Play Store. The only trick is that this is a system app, and you really can’t just get rid of it. You can uninstall the updates, taking the application to an older version. You can update it again afterward, so don’t worry — this is a safe procedure.

How to uninstall Google Play Store updates:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go into Apps.
  3. Select All apps.
  4. Find Google Play Store and go into the app’s settings.
  5. Tap on the 3-dot menu button on the top-right corner.
  6. Hit Uninstall updates.
  7. Tap on OK.

Could the issue be Google Play Services?

We could say Google’s apps are the motor that drives Android devices. Yes, we are talking about that weird app that needs updating now and then when trying to get another application. Many have no idea what it is, but it happens to be your phone’s backbone. Google’s applications offer some of the most exciting features available, and it’s all powered by Google Play Services.

Try clearing both the cache and data by following the same steps from above. The only difference is that instead of accessing the Google Play Store, you head over to Google Play Services on the App Manager. Like any other app, Google Play Services can fail at times, so it’s worth playing around with it if you have any Google-related issues.

Remove and re-enter Google account

I don’t have much faith in this one, but some suggest resetting your Google account to fix specific issues. I suppose it’s worth trying before jumping on the last (and most extreme) tip.

How to remove a Google account on Android:

  1. Go into the Settings app.
  2. Select Passwords & accounts.
  3. Tap on your Google account.
  4. Hit Remove account.
  5. Verify by hitting Remove account again.

How to add a Google account on your Android phone:

Working with error codes may be easier, as the system is pretty much telling you what’s going on. A bit of research, and you should know what the problem is and how to fix it. Let’s go over some of the most popular Google Play Store error codes you may encounter.

Google Play Store Error 944

Those who get a 944 error code need not panic. This code tells you that Google’s servers are offline or suffering connectivity issues. The obvious solution is to wait until Google fixes its problems.

Google Play Store Error 919

You have run out of space! Trying to download that app over and over won’t help, as this error code is pretty much telling you the application no longer fits in your storage. Delete some clutter and uninstall unimportant applications.

Google Play Store Error 481

This code means that there’s some major error with your account. Let’s hope none of you ever have to see these error codes, as it likely means the end of your Google account. The only fix is to remove your old account and sign up for a new one.

Google Play Store Error 505

This error is usually caused by similar apps looking for the same permission, which causes a conflict. Google may have fixed this with more recent updates, as this error is more common in devices with Android 4 KitKat and older iterations.

Your first try at fixing this should be to clear the Google Play Store and Google Play Services cache. Furthermore, you can uninstall and re-install updates to the Google Play Store. Also, make sure you are running the latest software available for your Android device.

Google Play Store Error 927

This Google Play Store error appears when trying to download or update an app, but this particular code occurs only when the Play Store is caught out in the middle of an update of its own.

The best fix is to wait for the Play Store to finish updating and installing, and then trying again. Alternatively, you can clear app data for the Play Store and Google Services.

Factory data reset

If all else fails and you still have problems with the Google Play Store not working, wipe your device clean and give it a fresh start. At this point, we have no idea what could be causing your Google Play Store discrepancies, but a factory data reset will likely fix most of your issues, as it deletes everything on the device and leaves it the way it was when you turned it on for the very first time. You can perform a factory data reset by clicking on the button below and following the instructions within that post.

We hope one of these methods got your Google Play Store back up and running. If nothing helped, the problem has to run deeper than usual, and you should probably consult technical support.

How to Fix Google Play Store Sign In Issue

Hello and welcome back to my another tutorial in this video i am going to share with you How to Fix Google Play Store Sign In Issue.#play_store #sign_issue☕️...

How to fix ”Google Play authentication is required” error ...

This workaround bypasses the malfunctioning Play Store app completely. Go to your web browser and navigate to the Google Play Store website. Try downloading an app directly from there rather than through the Google Play Store app. Just sign into your Google account through your browser and then install the chosen app.

The “Google Play authentication is required” error is a surprisingly common problem on Android devices. It makes you realize just how much you rely on Google products for your smartphone activity, especially the Play Store. The good news is that it’s a super easy problem to fix. Let us show you how to fix this Google Play authentication error in just a few simple steps.

There are several different ways to go about solving this problem, from a simple data clearing to the more drastic factory reset as a last resort.

Uninstall Play Store updates

Sometimes the problem is not with your credentials but the Play Store itself. Go to the Play Store in Settings > Applications and hit Uninstall updates (usually found by tapping the 3 dots menu in the top right). This will take you back to the original version of the Play Store that was installed on your device.

Then, all you need to do to fix the error is install the latest version of the Google Play Store and sign in once again.

Simply remove your Google account

The error may simply be a sign-in issue, which sometimes occurs when the Play Store is updated. The first trick is to go into your phone’s main Settings menu and then Accounts and simply remove the Google account you have registered (the one that’s getting the “authentication is required” message).

Once you’ve done this, you can re-add the account and it should work just fine. However, you may need to do this step along with the second step below.

Try a fresh sync

It’s possible that things aren’t syncing for some reason, and just need a little push. Go to your Settings, tap Accounts, then Google, your email address, and Sync all. Then you can go back to the Play Store and see if the authentication message is gone.

Clear data from the Google Play Store

To clear data from the Play Store, you need to go into Settings and then Applications and find the Google Play Store. Tap it and than select Clear data. (You can try just clearing the cache first, if you like, but clearing data will clear the cache as well).

If the previous step (the fresh sync) didn’t work for you, you may find that it does if you repeat it after carrying out this step.

Download an app using your mobile browser

This workaround bypasses the malfunctioning Play Store app completely. Go to your web browser and navigate to the Google Play Store website. Try downloading an app directly from there rather than through the Google Play Store app. Just sign into your Google account through your browser and then install the chosen app.

If you’re still having problems after trying all these steps, run through them again in this order, rebooting your phone between the steps: remove Google account, reboot, uninstall updates, install new Play Store, reboot, add account, and so on. Just keep trying until the error goes away.

The last resort: factory reset

One user tried everything and still couldn’t get rid of the error message. But, the last resort worked: a factory reset. Here’s how to do it.

Similar to how Steam works on your computer, Google Play Games acts as your gaming profile to not only access games, but compile your gaming history as well. But just like any other app, Google Play Games can malfunction, causing you to be cut-off from your favorite games altogether.

One of the issues with the Google Play games is that you are unable to sign into any game on your Android device. That is a weird issue, but we do have solutions to fix this one, so that you are able to log into your games easily.

As absurd as it may seem, users have reportedly been able to fix the Google Play Games signing in error by completing their Google profiles.

  • Using the Chrome browser app, head over to your Gmail and use the tabs to open your Google
